Julianna Smoot is a Business Development Advisor with Pilot Growth Equity.
Julianna Smoot is the co-founder of the Smoot Tewes Group, a full service public affairs consulting firm that helps companies and causes navigate public policy and build their strategic positioning in Washington and state capitals. Their team has waged and won dozens of high-profile, high-stakes campaigns for candidates, companies, coalitions, and causes.
Having been a key player in both of President Obama’s campaigns and his Administration, Julianna is widely regarded as one of the country’s top political operatives and the most successful fundraiser in American political history.
One of the first things Barack Obama did when he began his historic run for the Presidency in 2007 was to bring Julianna aboard as his National Finance Director. By Election Day, the campaign had raised more money than any campaign in U.S. history. In 2012, as Deputy Campaign Manager, Julianna and her team broke the records again, raising more than $1 billion.
Julianna served in key roles in the administration, including Chief of Staff to U.S. Trade Representative Ron Kirk, White House Social Secretary, Co-Chair of the Presidential Inaugural Committees in 2009 and 2013, and most recently as a board member to the Barack Obama Foundation, responsible for building the Obama Presidential Center. Julianna graduated from Smith College.
